If there is one thing that I love, it’s finding a new band.  If there is one thing I hate, it’s discovering that they haven’t released an album yet, and their music is only available on their MySpace.  Once that happens, you can pretty much guarantee that I will be writing that band off.  I hate MySpace.  Sure, you may be able to whore yourself out on there enough to get famous, but the end result is not pretty.  Plus, I can’t listen to your MySpace while driving, at the pool, or if I’m throwing a party…

Now, I’m not saying that you have to throw your whole catalog online, but give us a few tracks.  Give me something to listen to so that I remember about you when the rest becomes available.  I don’t even care if you want me to pay a couple of bucks or sign up for your mailing list to download it.  If I like your music, I’ll gladly pay your for it AND join your mailing list.  I want you to make money with music.  I want you to quit your day job and make the music that I like full time.  Then you can go on your world tour and play a show in Pittsburgh.  That’s where we’ll meet and fall in love.  And I’ll buy a t-shirt and ask for your autograph.  But none of that is going to happen if you don’t give me a reason to remember you when your album drops.
