I had posted a while ago the trailer for Raging Phoenix, and I’m finally getting around to watching young JeeJa Yanin’s previous work.
Chocolate tells the tale of a young autistic girl(Zen), her cousin(Moom), and their attempts to raise money for her mother’s(Zin) cancer treatments. It starts off with the kids doing shows of the girls freaky mutant autism talents. Like the ability to catch anything that is thrown at her. We then soon learn that the girl has the ability to mimic any martial arts moves that she sees, including epileptic kick boxing. This comes in handy later when the kids learn that people all over town owe Zin money.
The kids find a record book from Zin’s mafia days that details who owes how much money to her, and the kids go around to collect. Problem of course, is that nobody wants to pay them. From this point on in the movie, it is pretty much watching Zen kick all kinds of ass. She kicks ass in an ice warehouse, she kicks ass in a pig market, and she kicks ass on building ledges.
I’m sure that there was more to the plot than that, but I didn’t really pay attention to the first ten minutes or so. This does cause some confusion, as I have no clue why there is an army of what has to be the ugliest trannies I have ever seen. Definitely deserves a second viewing on my part, and a really good first viewing on yours if you haven’t seen it yet.
