PopSci has a great article about the new Apple Tablet PC, and how it could ruin computers as we know them.  I would just like to first state, that this is something that I have been saying for years now, mostly about Apple in general…

This is not a good thing. If an Apple tablet is ever actually released, we should all be very concerned for the future of what most of us take for granted today: our digital freedom.

The Apple tablet will likely sit somewhere in between the iPhone and a Mac laptop. But it won’t just blur the line between them—-it will attempt to erase it. This should scare you because it will be the biggest leap yet towards the notion of a completely closed “desktop” operating system.

This is the reason that I hate Apple, and why I will never own anything that they produce.  People talk about Microsoft being a monopoly and wanting to control everything, but what is Apple doing?

If any company is more controlling than Apple, I don’t know who they are, and yet, their fans pride them on this.  Apple gives you the appstore, a place where you can get tons of useless apps to make your iPhone do cool things.  Of course, the Appstore is the only way to get software, and if Apple says that they don’t like it, you can’t get it at all.  You could argue like they do in the article, that this is standard for phones.  Carriers lock down phones and you can’t install anything you want on them.  There is a problem with that argument though, the iPhone is marketed as a PDA, not a phone.  It’s supposed to be an advanced device, and those generally aren’t locked down.

Unlike the iPhone, I am able to install any software on these devices that I want.  Microsoft even promotes this as a selling point for devices running their OS.  They love the fact that you can install any software, and contrary to what they suspect in the article, I don’t really see Microsoft stopping this no matter what Apple does.  Likewise on my Blackberry, I have their App World which gives me a lot of software options, along with the thousands of websites out there with available software.

I will never own an Apple product, I don’t want an iPod, hate the iPhone, and really do not like Macs.

He made a website specifically to rant about Apple, but he continues to buy their products…

Apple computers are great but I also think that thier prices are not that reasonable. There are a lot of computers and gadgets way more efficient and effective than apple computers and gadgets. I really think that people nowadays are wise enough to buy things that are useful and not just buying the brand names.

I dont agree on this. I can say that Apple is still the best.. But it just very expensive.
