xm25

I don’t know, maybe I’m wrong, but isn’t the XM-25 old news?  I remember seeing either this gun, or it’s predecessor, on Future Weapons a while ago.  Isn’t the real news that this gun is going to probably see actual field use this year?  Everything that I see about this gun is how cool it is.  It shoots electronic bullets that know exactly when to explode so that it kills people behind walls.

The gun has a laser range finder that finds out the distance to the target.  The soldier then inputs how far from said target he wants the bullet to travel before exploding by adding ±2 meters.  The onboard computer then adjusts the sights so that the soldier can aim better for the distance.  The soldier then squeezes the trigger, the bullet flies through the air, and then explodes where the hiding enemy combatant least expects it.  Right over his head.

Am I wrong in saying, “About damn time!”  Really, shouldn’t we have had these weapons years ago?
