So, I sit back for an evening of watching movies after work.  I decide on The Sword and the Sorcerer, a classic tale of a guy with a sword, and a sorcerer that he has to kill, hence the title.  Well, at the end of this movie, there is a bump for the next movie, advising you to watch for Talen’s next adventure, “Tales of an Ancient Empire“.  This was waaaaaay back in 1982, so it’s been close to 30 years now, and no sequel.  Fans everywhere finally gave up on the idea.  Well, at least until the internet was invented, then fans whined about it online…

Well, whine no more my fellow nerds.  It is actually being made.  And I don’t mean that I found a shadowy IMDB page about it.  I mean that I have seen a cast list.  I have movie posters.  I even have a release date (6/1/2009?!?).  OK, perhaps the release date is wrong, because nothing looks like it is actually ready yet.  But still, I can’t wait.

Talen appears to only have a cameo as the original Talen, so it’s not exactly his next adventure.  From what I can tell, it’s now about his son, played by Kevin Sorbo, of whom I am a fan.  It will also star Christopher Lambert, and a whole mess of scantily clad ladies.  The original writer and director are also on board for this, so it should have the same feel as the original hopefully.  I really hoping not to be disappointed here, of course, as I am expecting something as ridiculous as the original, it will probably be hard to disappoint me…

I’m guessing its a straight to DVD, but there is nothing on Amazon, and nothing on Netflix.  I really hope that I’m not going to be let down here.  It looks so promising that it is actually being made, there are plenty of pictures out there.  But no trailer, nothing official showing a release date, whether it’s in theatres or not…
