So I signed up for Netflix so I can watch lots of movies. It’s a nice idea, but there are a couple of flaws. First, I like the idea of watching them on my Xbox 360. The selection kinda sucks however. They have movies on there that aren’t even worth the bandwidth that they are transferred on. For instance, Nymphoid Barbarian in Dinosaur Hell, I expected it to be pretty bad, then I saw it was a Troma flick and figured it would be spectacularly bad. Then I watched about twenty minutes, it wasn’t even work rating with one star it was so bad. I’d say that probably a third of the movies aren’t worth watching.
Then we get to the controls. On some videos, if I leave the video it will save where I was and when I come back, it will ask me to resume. On others, I just have to start over and fast forward. Which brings me to the next problem. Fast forwarding sucks. Really sucks. What would be nice is some kind of scene selection. If I choose the option to skip ahead, it will jump fifteen minutes, then I have to wait five seconds before I can jump the next fifteen, and so on, until I get to where I was. I can understand the pause to rebuffer the video after skipping, but not the pause between skips. Fast forwarding is kinda nice however. It just shows screen shots of every few seconds as you zoom through.
They have the mail in DVD thing pretty good, they just need to work on the instant watch part.
