I picked up Daphne: In the Brilliant Blue about a year ago in FYE. I was looking for something new, and it was marked down, plus they had a sale going on, so I got the whole series for something along the lines of 80% off. I have to say, I was pleased with this purchase.
The story is about a girl who wants to join the Ocean Agency, but when that dream gets shot down, she winds up joining the Nereids. The Nereids are a group of girls who do various jobs along the lines of bounty hunters. Eventually Maia learns that there is more to her past than previously suspected and the story gets more in depth. It’s really a good show. The show also has quite a bit of fan service.
And when I say quite a bit, I mean a lot. The uniforms that the girls wear are rather skimpy. So skimpy, you would expect a tentacle monster to show up at any moment. There are no tentacles though, and there isn’t even any sex on screen, it’s all pretty respectable actually. It’s like watching a prime time network drama, only all the girls are wearing g-strings.
A bold and interesting concept that I wish more networks would embrace.
