It looks like both Jason Fortuny and The Pirate Bay have both found themselves on the shit end of the law. Jason, for his infamous Craigslist Expirement, and TPB for hosting a torrent site. Both had suits brought agains them, and both lost.
Jason had a default judgment filed against him for over $75,000 in an Illinois court, which he should be able to appeal pretty easily, what with nothing actually happening in the state of Illinois, and neither party actually being from that state.
The Pirate Bay guys have it a bit worse off. They each got a year in prison and fined $2.6 million. They still have their appeals process to go through as well though, so we’ll see how that turns out.
