People actually walk on this thing?

This thing looks like some sadistic level from a video game.  It just needs a koopa two, maybe some ninjas for good measure.  And the guy going along, you notice how he just runs past everybody else, not even bothering to tether himself to the safty line?  I’d say this guy has giant brass balls, but that can’t be true, because the added weight would probably break the trail.
